Albwardy Damen’s specialist team of trained and certified engineers and technicians for NOV fiber glass systems were recently called to attend one in-house GRE pipe (Glass Reinforced Epoxy) renewal jobs onboard vessel Albacura Uno at Damen Shipyard Sharjah.
We can offer engineers and technicians who built their experience from working with GRE systems. We are mainly focused to attend the NOV glass reinforced epoxy pipes who are able to carry out professional GRE pipe renewal, repair and retrofit services onboard vessels.
His Enquiry came from our customer Albacura B.V. for GRE pipe renewal jobs in engine room last January 2021. Vessel had been intending to change all their engine room Seawater pipes to GRE pipes. However due to vessel’s tight schedule at yard, the Client decided to renew only some of the massive piping into GRE system.
After the Client’s official confirmation, we removed all existing steel pipes from vessel and brought to our GRE pipe workshop. From there we prepared proper jig arrangements of all existing lines.
Existing pipe lines measurements were taken and recorded. Client then supplied all required GRE pipes and fittings which was NOV Bondstrand 2000 M series and the required epoxy adhesives.
Our GRE Team then produced new GRE spools/ pieces as per datasheets and pipe manufacture guidelines in line with standard drawings as per NOV data sheets. Upon completion of the new GRE spools at workshop, we pressure tested as per manufacturer recommended test pressure limits which were successfully completed without any leakages. These newly fabricated GRE pipes were then transferred to vessel and installed onboard with proper supports.
We completed the job with a great joy as everything went well and we found customer happy with end results and the quality of project.
