Damen Multibuster 8020 (DMB 8020), a complete Turnkey New building Project for Albwardy Damen is now getting ready to launch on 3rd August 2021 as planned. Vessel is currently at her final outfitting stage installed with all machineries, piping, carpentry outfits and HVAC. Final Cable Terminations in progress and she is having her final color on external hull.
Being a turnkey project with full responsibility on hand from Basic Design, Detail Engineering, Procurement and Production, this project is indeed a real challenge for the entire project team. DMB 8020 is a prototype vessel and being said, I have to agree that we have encountered many challenges in the project concerning engineering, procurement and production, but our team has effectively taken care of all the challenges and positively we have built on learning from those challenges.
Shipbuilding in Covid pandemic is becoming a normal practice now, however at the peak of lock down all over the world in the beginning of the project, we had various challenges in supply chain to get the purchased equipment on time. We have encountered delay, however it has not much affected us in the planning. We have effectively adapted the building strategies. Production was never affected by Covid pandemic, as our company effectively controlled the pandemic within our shipyard.
As the launching date is nearly approaching, complete team is excited as well as busy making her ready to start the precommissioning checks. We have planned 80 days of commissioning to take her to the deep sea for her performance in sea trials.
I on behalf of the entire project team fully believe that DMB 8020 will be a huge success and will serve as the mark that she definitely is the first but not the last turnkey project we will be doing in our yard.
